Gateway Plus User Guide
Introduction
Gateway Plus helps you create and manage hosted payment pages that can be added to your website and tailored to match your organisation's branding.
This guide explains the features for the three tiers available in Gateway Plus and shows you how to use them to build and maintain payment pages that meet your organisation's needs.
By following this guide, you will be able to set up, customise, and update your payment pages in line with the Gateway Plus services you have procured from allpay.
Accessing Gateway Plus
To access Gateway Plus, log in to the Payments Hub, go to Payments and select the tile labelled Gateway Plus.

Gateway Plus will appear greyed out for users who do not have the appropriate permissions enabled. Please refer to User Permissions for an overview of the available permissions.
Alternatively, speak with the Payments Hub administrators within your organisation if you do not have the permission required for your job role.
User Permissions
Access to Gateway Plus is via the allpay Payments Hub. To see details about logging onto the Payments Hub, please visit www.allpay.net/training-homepage
User permissions are set up and assigned in the Payments Hub. To manage permissions, go to 'Manage users', select 'Invite users' and choose the permissions required for the user's role.
The permissions available to you will depend on how your organisation has agreed to use Gateway Plus with allpay. To access Gateway Plus in full, all relevant permissions must be enabled.
These include:
- Gateway Plus - allows a user to configure how their payment page will display on their organisation's website.
- iFrame Builder - allows a user to configure and manage iFrame options.
- Branding - allows you to make branding changes to your organisations website.
- Gift Aid - allows you to view the Gift Aid donation data.
You can edit these permissions at any time by selecting 'View users' and adding permissions.
Once you have been given these permissions, you will now be able to navigate around Gateway Plus.
Tier 1 : Essential
The Essential tier provides you with a hosted payment page where your customers are able to make card payments. They are also able to use apple and google pay in this tier, alongside their card. For charities the option of gift aid is available for you, when onboarding with us.
It is worth noting that with all Gateway Plus tiers, the customer can filter the language the payments page is displayed in. Currently, the languages we have available are English, Welsh, Polish, Romanian and Ukrainian.
Under Hosted Gateway URL, you will find the web link where your externally managed payment page is located and can be accessed by customers.

For our Essentials tier all other Gateway Plus functions are greyed out. If you are interested in being able to customise your payments page further please speak to your Client Development Manager
Tier 2: Professional
The Professional tier offers advanced functionality, giving you greater control over your website's branding through custom, self-service design options.
This tier includes extended branding settings, allowing you to personalise your website with a wider range of design and configuration choices.
As shown below, additional permissions and settings are available within the Professional tier. Each of these features will be explained in detail throughout this guide.

Branding Settings
This section allows you to design your payments page to meet your branding requirements. Detailed in the following sections are different options that you can use to customise your customers payment experience.
Below outlines each section:
Hosted Gateway URL - This provides a hosted URL and it is the web link where your externally managed payment page is located and can be accessed by customers.
Whenever you want to test the design of your gateway, you can copy and paste this URL into a web browser and view your design.
Manage Gateway styling - This section is where you view and manage the branding of your gateway. There are various things that you can do to design the way you want your gateway to look.
- Add your Logo - Once you have inserted a logo, it will appear at the top of the payment page.
File type: We recommend a PNG file with a transparent background for the best results.
Size: The ideal size is 400px x 100px. If your logo is a different size, we will resize it to fit, but a larger size may look blurry.
Recommendation: Use a high-quality version of your logo.
- Choose your brand colours - This sets the primary colour for your payment gateway to reflect your brand's palette. This colour will then be used for buttons, headings and other key elements.
You can choose your colour by either finding it on the colour bar or inputting the colour code in the box below.
- Fixed buttons - Here is where you can control whether the primary action buttons remain fixed at the bottom of the screen on mobile devices.
On: Ensures buttons always stay fixed at the bottom of the screen for quick access.
Off: Buttons scroll with the page content and appear at the natural end of the form.
- Support Page Link - This will be shown when there are error messages presented to your customers whilst accessing your payment gateway. It helps your users quickly reach your support team if something goes wrong, so please provide a direct link to your support or contact page.
You are also able to continue to use allpay's support link if required.
- Complete an Accessibility check - This makes sure that the page is accessible and everyone can use it, including people with visual impairments.
Underneath the colour block, if your text and colour background do not have high contrast and will not be easy for someone to read, the text will 'fail'.

In the above example, the white text on a white background would fail as it would not be accessible for someone to read.
Changes that are made here are not live until published. Please select 'Publish Branding' to apply your update to the live gateway.
On completing steps 1-5, you are ready to publish your payments page. Select Publish Branding at the bottom of the screen.
Build Gateway iFrame
You can customise your gateway page even further when using an iFrame, giving you the flexibility to hide elements you don't need and create a smoother, more seamless experience for your customers payment journey.

You can also set up pre-filled fields inside the iFrame, making it easy to apply default values - such as automatically displaying the page in Welsh.
You will also need to white-list your URL for the iFrame to work.
For added piece of mind, your HMAC signature is available here too. HMAC (short for 'Hash-based Message Authentication Code') is a way of creating a unique digital 'stamp' using a secret key, so you can prove that information hasn't been changed and really came from a trusted source. This is used for real-time transaction monitoring.
Making your Gateway Live
Once your setup is complete, your Gateway is ready to start accepting payments. As soon as you're happy with your branding and configuration, you can begin using your Gateway URL straight away.
Before going live, it is best practice to fully review your page styling, contact information and any integration settings to make sure everything looks and works as expected. When you're ready, you can share your Gateway URL or embed it within your application to start processing payments smoothly.
